Week 1 & 2 Portfolio Selft study.

Week 1 &2 Selft study:

This week for KIT207 Game Design and Production, we learned basics of itch.io and blender. We have also started a journey learning how to create a barrel using blender and creating a model of a tourist location in Tasmania.

During this week we learned how to create an itch.io account to upload the semester material for our tutors to provide feedback on our work.

In self study week 1 we practice how to create a barrel using blender. We learned how to navigate in the interface of application and some of the fundamentals such as: modelling, scale, Extrude regions, inset, editing, loop cutting tool and painting.

In blender we had a very informative video that taught us the basics of 3D modeling and how to create our first portfolio work.

Then we started in our first portfolio exercise. The task consisted in finding a specific tourist attraction in Tasmania. After that we had to use Blender to recreate the object using the skills learned through the week. Unfortunately, in my case I had to use Google and pick a place that I find interesting to do my model as I am an online student from a different state in Australia.

This first week has been very challenging as I am new to these materials. I had to spend hours doing my own research and going back into the self study YouTube video to get my first barrel model done. I am very proud of how it turned in blender. Of course, I do need more practice to improve some little mistakes that could of saved me time modeling the barrel,

I personally picked the monument to early surveyors in Tasmania as my model for Blender as I do feel that people would be very fascinated by the history that it holds.

Another point to consider, I feel like I need more time learning Blender to pick some more sophisticated material to create using the application.

Overall, I am happy with the learning support that this course is offering and I am so happy that I have learned new things this first week.
